Would give it 5 stars but when I e-mail my entries to back them up, it doesnt send the pictures that I have attached. Please fix this. Would love for this app to have that feature. Great app though.

This is the real deal! I normally dont take the time to write reviews... but this app is amazing & beautiful. I believe the ability to backup your lifes experriences with text and pictures in a diary format will be a treasure to future generations of your family.
I loved it for a while but momento is way better.
All in all this isnt a bad app. Its very simple to use and have a clean interface. Would love to see a calendar feature in the next update and would love to be able to export a certain period of time instead of the entire journal. Make these changes and it will definitely be a 5 star app.
I love the idea of this application, but the app description claimed that there is a landscape mode. This does not work on my iPod. Ive tried holding my iPod completely horizontal for several seconds, and it does not switch over. If there is something else that has to be done for this feature to work, please let me know, but for now I am very frustrated for losing $2 of the very scare amount of money that I have as a teenager, and I will look for a new journal app.
I liked it but now I cant open it. Theres no setting to like reset a password or anything so what happens with all my writing? I KNOW my password but it no longer opens the app.
I was using Momento on iPhone and switched to Chronicle for its dual platform (iPad/IPhone) capabilities along with its PDF export and Dropbox functionality. The App is excellent. You can read about its photo capability and flexibility as you thumb through this thread. I intend to use it often. For me, the biggest improvement that can be made is taking a great multiple-platform start with cloud back-up to the next level: true synching. With Dropbox functionality already built-in, the infrastructure is in place. This will allow users to capture moments on the fly from their phone as well as capturing moments from the iPad and then having content completely current and backed-up real-time on both devices. ThinkingMaps does this through Dropbox and it truly extends the Apps functionality. Make these improvements and it gets 5 stars. But even without the synching feature, its a great App!
After trying several different journal / diary apps, Im very pleased that I found this one. It is clean, neat, and fast. I dont want to synch my journal with facebook or Twitter or anything else, and if I did, I know how to copy and paste. I hate convoluted apps that take 20 seconds to load and 10 clicks to find what I want. I dont need lots of gimmicks and junk, just a journal app to record my thoughts plain and simple, and that is what this is. Most important to me is that it can be backed up, is password protected, and opens quickly when I need it. Just a note, landscape mode works but only one way (with home button on the right side) and I beleive only when you are typing. The only thing I would add to this app is a calendar so I could scroll through months more quickly. Still, you can access entries by searching the date that you want. Thank you for this app, 5 stars!
I have been using this app for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it. I have kept a personal paper journal for the last 15 years and decided I wanted to try something electronic as much of my life seems to now be on my iPhone. I wasnt sure how it would work, if I would get the same benefit typing versus writing, if I would be able to easily access and review previous entries, if my entries might be lost or the app would crash. Happily, its all been very, very good. No more carrying around a moleskin, I dont need to worry about having a pen, I can add photos, I can easily review previous entries, its easy to back-up and save, its password protected and so far no crashes or problems. If you are a person that enjoys journalling and recording your thoughts, ideas and experiences then you will really love this app. Great job! Thanks.
Would Like to be able to have it organize by what was last edited.. i Use this app for writing for music and when i write a song its not always at one time so id like it to be the last entry i edited on top of the list.. other then that its a 5
I was only able to use it for a day and now I cant use it because it wont unlock Im positive Im using the right password and I tried reporting the problem and have not received a response after a week
Simple and easy, great for recording thoughts at any time.
Pleased with the overall layout & feel. Like that pictures & data transfer between iPad & iPod app. Great customizing options. More icons & a calendar view would be a bonus!
I love this app, except I wont continue using it very long if an update to enable typing in landscape mode doesnt come out soon. Its a huge pain typing on the keyboard otherwise.
Im really glad Chronicle for iPhone got an update! Hopefully there will be more to come! Chronicle is currently the only iOS journal thats available for both iPhone and iPad that lets you add photos (and not as a watermark-MyDailyJournal Im looking at you). Chronicle also offers the best backup and restore features. Its missing direct sync (DayOne wins there). But where Chronicle really excels is in its customer service. Stephen is always open to suggestions and, even though hes a one-man team, will always get right back to you. Its a more personalized experience that you dont get with other developers. My current wishlist for Chronicle for iPhone is Manual Timestamping and Cloud sync with the iPad version. A desktop version is but a dream. ;)
I just dont get the point of a journal with photos--when you cant export the entries WITH photos. So, you take a bunch of great shots--but when you export (via email or Google Docs), you only get the text, losing one half of your memories, and your photos in context. You cant even export the photos as unembedded attachments (the way you can in Momento, which isnt great, but is still better than nothing). This seems so basic to me--and yet its THE missing function in nearly all diary/travel/journal apps for iPhone. Yes, you can backup, but then youre stuck with Chronicle forevermore. Digital decay is a HUGE issue--theres no guarantee that 10 years from now this program or developer will even exist (no matter how great now). Especially for a DIARY, which one is presumably keeping for posteritys sake--why would I spend all this time attaching photos to particular entries, only to lose that connection, and all that work, becuz I have no way to preserve in a form that is guaranteed to be around for a while (such as .pdf, google docs or the like). Otherwise, I love this app--it has a beautiful interface--but its useless IMHO without the above.
Personally, I think this app is absolutely wonderful!! I find it easy to use for journaling purposes and love the fact that I can change the background colors and font. The option to add pics just makes it that much better. Not being able to export the pics along with text to other programs (like another reviewer stated) is not of importance to me because I dont want my inner most thoughts in numerous places anyway. And be mindful to pick a locking passcode you wont forget.... You will NOT be getting in without it (if you have that featured enabled). I mean, isnt that the purpose of having a passcode to begin with? Again, I love this app! I have always kept a handwritten diary or journal and this serves my needs in a much more convenient way. You will not be disappointed.
Im enjoying this app but I have 2 requests. 1. Fix the compatibility to open the Chronicle notes for Drop Box app. 2. Add sync for both iPad and iPhone. If they do happen then this will be 5 star app.
Kinda pricy for what it offers, Id recommend the iPad version.
I dont know why someone will release an app that doesnt support landscape-mode editing. Let alone an app that requires a lot of typing, like a diary does.
